When I bought the notebook used online auction site have lasted or when it should not be fixed with just one.
In my quest for a laptop HD, I discovered a way to map a drive Compact Flash memory.
I bought a CF to boot 2.5 "IDE adapter. This adapter allows you to drive using a Compact Flash card as your primary hard drive.
The adapter connects to the connector 44-pin in most laptops. I noticed that some laptop portspin hole in the middle of blocks, so that does not fit the adapter. I think we could cut out your PIN or bend back the tab and it should fit, but I have not even tried.
It can run on any operating system from a CF card with this adapter. I recommend, as with Windows 98. Windows XP allows you to read too many / write cycles, which can shorten the life of the memory card. Windows XP requires at least 3 GB to install. Windows 98 requires a minimumto install 256 MB.
It 'can use the Windows XP operating system. I would switch to a Microdrive. But used with caution, the installation of Windows XP will hang in an endless loop. Is there a trick to install correctly, but I have not yet discovered. I can imagine it takes to transfer files from a laptop HD set.
The best advantage of using a CF card as a hard disk is that if the laptop falls, the memory card is probably moreunits of surviving the fall as a regular tough.
The new mini-laptop uses a similar configuration, which is a Solid State Drive (SSD).
I use this adapter and a 2 GB card for my laptop. Works well with Windows 98 and I have a Wi-Fi card for Internet access.
